The first to combine Infrared and Reformer Pilates

Step into a room charged with infrared heat. Your body responds faster, the workout feels deeper, and the intensity builds naturally. The result is a stronger, hotter Reformer class that stands apart in Amsterdam.

Infrared Reformer Pilates elevates our signature high intensity workout in a refined and controlled way. The room does not glow red and this is not red light therapy. The heat is subtle, even, and designed to help you feel stronger and more confident from the inside out.

Why Infrared?

Infrared heat warms the body from the inside out, allowing muscles to move more freely and work more efficiently. The added heat slightly increases heart rate and workout intensity, supporting a higher calorie burn.

Improved lymphatic response

Infrared warmth encourages earlier sweating and supports movement within the lymphatic system. Research links this to more efficient detoxification and a deeper sense of release after class.

Improved circulation + faster recovery

Infrared enhances microcirculation and reduces inflammation. The result: quicker muscle recovery and a lighter, clearer feeling post-class.

Higher calorie burn without added impact

Infrared raises your heart rate gently and naturally. Research links this to improved cardiovascular conditioning and increased calorie burn.

Increased mobility and safer movement

Warm tissue moves better. Infrared heat improves flexibility and joint mobility, supported by scientific research.

Increased calorie burn without added impact

The gentle heat naturally elevates your heart rate while movements remain controlled and low impact. Combined with resistance-based Reformer work, this results in higher energy expenditure without placing extra stress on the joints.

A calming effect on the nervous system

The steady warmth of infrared heat can have a grounding effect on the nervous system. Many clients experience a sense of focus and calm during class, followed by a relaxed yet energized feeling afterwards. This balance between intensity and recovery is part of what makes the experience feel both challenging and restorative.

Deeper muscle activation and improved flexibility

Infrared heat warms muscles efficiently, allowing them to lengthen and contract with greater ease. This supports deeper muscle engagement and improved flexibility, helping you move through exercises with better range and control.

Faster muscle recovery and reduced soreness

Infrared supports microcirculation and helps the body manage inflammation more effectively. This can contribute to quicker muscle recovery and less post-workout soreness, allowing you to train consistently and feel ready for your next session sooner.

FAQ | INFRARED REFORMER PILATES

What is the difference between Infrared Reformer Pilates and a regular Reformer class?

Infrared Reformer Pilates follows our signature high intensity Reformer Pilates format, with the addition of infrared heat in the room. The warmth gently raises the temperature, allowing your body to warm faster and sweat more, while maintaining the precision and control you know from PLTS.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your grip socks and a water bottle. Towels are provided by the studio.

Is this class suitable for first timers?

Yes, first timers are welcome. If you are new to Reformer Pilates, we recommend starting with an Intro class to become familiar with the machine and our method. Please let your instructor know before class if it is your first time.

Is Infrared Reformer Pilates suitable for everyone?

We do not recommend this class if you have asthma, low or high blood pressure, low or high blood sugar levels, or if you are pregnant. If you are unsure, we advise consulting your healthcare provider or reaching out to our team.

How long is the class?

The class duration is 50 minutes, the same as all PLTS Reformer Pilates classes.

Where is Infrared Reformer Pilates offered?

Infrared Reformer Pilates is currently offered exclusively at PLTS West in Amsterdam.

Will the room feel very hot or look red?

The heat is subtle and evenly distributed. The room does not glow red and this is not red light therapy. The warmth is designed to feel comfortable and supportive rather than overwhelming.

Is the class more intense than a regular Reformer class?

The movements remain controlled and low impact, but the added heat can make the workout feel more challenging. Many clients experience a deeper sweat and a stronger physical response.

Should I prepare differently for an Infrared class?

We recommend staying well hydrated before and after class and listening closely to your body, especially if it is your first Infrared experience.
